Morning Star School was established as a nursery school in May 2006. Back then, the school begun with just 6 pupils; 2 boys and 4 girls who enrolled that first year.
OUR OBJECTIVES
- To provide all pupils with high quality, tuition in all subjects both for knowledge and for tested excellence.
- To help children make measurable gains in social co-operation, impulse control through games and spiritual growth through Christian praise and worship, and poetry.
- To make education accessible to at-risk (vulnerable) children including those from poor backgrounds, as well as those orphaned by either natural attrition or HIV/AIDS.
- To provide general health care support through the provision of regular medical checkups and medication.
Having been a teacher since 1972, I have seen that the biggest thing you can give to someone is knowledge. And sometimes while they will not take the knowledge, the best I can do is to make it available to all.
"Knowledge is the foundation of success" is our slogan. In this part of Kenya, about 85% of people live on under a dollar a day. With such poverty levels, the best we can do is give the future generations - boys and girls alike, an education.
Even with the challenges of being overworked and underpaid, our teachers have chosen to put the interests of the pupils above theirs. Though they will go without pay for 3 school holiday months in a year, they stay dedicated to the pupils' performance.
